TAMPA — We arrived at the Tampa International last night at 6 p.m. – the weather was warm and muggy – it was about to rain.
People were friendly, but held back a lot it seemed.
We picked up our rental and navigated our way on St. Road 60 to Clearwater in Pinellas County, Florida, where there’s an abundance of swing voters. Obama and Palin have rallied here.
We decided to stay at the Belleview Biltmore Hotel for a night because of its proximity to neighborhoods and cities of two types of income levels – the wealthy, and lower middle class.
Obama stayed at the Biltmore on September 24, 2008 as he was rallying at the nearby city, Dunedin. Hotel employees had alot to say about his visit, and one described him as a “nice seemingly humble guy.”
“He didn’t even stay in the Presidential Suite,” she said. She explained that Obama and his staffers stayed on the same floor, in standard rooms.
She also said that, “there was a not mean person among them, and there were alot of them.”
Another who also wished not to give her name described his visit as “exciting, and hadn’t seen so much excitement in a long time.”
